I finally hear! And so can the neighbors, probably.

Set up my new speakers, and wow.

Since I like to think I’m musically inclined, I’ve noticed a huge, significant, enormous difference from my MP3’s speakers and my new Altec Lansings. Many of you may think “no shit, sherlock,” but if I had known it would have made this much of a difference to have decent 5.1’s, I would have bought them ages ago.

I keep thinking, “The hell! I didn’t know those notes were there!”

Edit: I’m only disappointed because the backs aren’t flat enough to stick on my dorm walls for extra coolness.

Utada Hikaru – Beautiful World

Filed under: Music — puyopuyooon @ 8:44 am

You know how when you like a song, your brain finds stupid ways to make it make sense in your own life? (Well, except for the “beautiful boy” line. Let’s not get into that.) Utada Hikaru’s seriously gots it going on recently though, I’ve liked all her recent songs a whole lot. They’re made of awesome and poppy sounds that don’t suck.

It’s only love It’s only love

-If you could grant just one of my wishes

-Let me fall asleep next to you, wherever it is

Beautiful world

-Unerringly, my eyes see just you

Beautiful boy

-Do you still not know how beautiful you are?

It’s only love

Well that was fun.

Japanese songs with dumb names tend to be kinda cool

Filed under: Music — puyopuyooon @ 8:03 am

(I still can’t sleep.)

KOKIA’s 愛のメロディー is played in some terrible anime movie with good animation and not much anything else of redeeming value. Anyway, it’s a good song. I guess “愛のメロディー” translates to “Melody of Love,” in case you don’t know. Yeah, the cheese is overwhelming.

My favorite line that I cannot resist singing (yes) aloud is:

私は私らしくいられるのは あなたがいるから
The reason I can live as myself   Is because you are here with me

I also like this recurring chorus but I don’t sing this one aloud for obvious reasons:

いとおしくて 嬉しくて 悲しくて 切なくて
悔しくて もどかしくて 愛のメロディー
Precious and joyous, sad and nostalgic
Trying and tantalizing… a melody of love

Despite it’s dumb name, the song is pretty flowery with its imagery (as some Japanese songs tend to be), and it’s not as silly and attempts to be a little deeper than the standard pop, I think. It’s got a nice sound to it as well, lots of violin and piano with some orchestra backup. People should listen to more KOKIA so shitty idols like Koda Kumi get less airtime. Yeah, what now.

I think I will translate some songs…

Filed under: Music — funnce @ 5:46 am

I think to further my Japanese skills with some incentive, I’ll start translating some Japanese songs and post them up here…

So hopefully I’ll get around to that :)

Funnce’s currently listening to…

Flavor of Life
BENNIE K (with Seamo) – a love story
Tank –

(If you haven’t noticed, I’m kind of a sporadic listener. What I listen to is not always the newest; I just kind of… listen, haha).
